Piano, Violin and Music Theory Lessons
I am a classically trained music teacher. I have a ABRSM grade 8 in piano, violin and music theory, a Bachelor Degree of Classical Music (Hons.) and a Master in Music Therapy. I have has been teaching music since 2009. I teach both adults and children. I am only offering 1:1 lesson at the moment, however I have taught in a variety of setting in the past, such as string ensemble, group music theory, group aural, music for very young children as well as classroom music. In terms of my musical performance experience, I had performed in musical shows, orchestra and choir.
I use the ABRSM and TRINITY syllabus as a guide in my teaching, and I regularly prepare students for the music examination up until grade 8. However, this is not a rigid requirement as I also teach pupil who likes to learn to play as self-interest.
I believes that music lesson is more than just to learn to play an instrument. The ability to enjoy playing comes from finding meaning and purpose in learning an instrument. Therefore, I often encourage my students to participate in selecting the songs they like to learn. I aim for a well-rounded teaching. I guide my students to explore different musical styles and incorporate a well-rounded range of musical knowledge in my teaching, such as playing techniques, music theory, aural, music history, etc.

I believe that practice between lessons is essential. Parents/care givers' help and support in encouraging their children to practice will maximize their learning efficiency.
